![]() Frances Bavin - Nutritional Therapistbased in EdinburghMy interest in nutrition and nutritional therapy started about ten years ago. I had health issues that the doctors didn’t have any effective answers to and through reading books on the subject and finally visiting a nutritionist, I made dietary and lifestyle changes which have improved various aspects of my life immeasurably. This inspired me to retrain as a Nutritional Therapist with the CNM (College of Naturopathic Medicine). The course is orientated not just around the scientific study of nutrition but around the more subtle and ancient principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic Medicine. At the base of it is the Naturopathic theory that, given the right tools, the body has an inherent ability to heal itself. I am also a big believer in finding ways of staying in shape which are fun, sociable and rewarding beyond just getting fit. My personal favourites are yoga and dancing, hence why I decided to teach Zumba as well. Half of what I do now is encourage people to look after themselves, reduce their stress levels and get more fun in their lives. This may sound simple but it is important and too often overlooked. I am a registered member of BANT and am fully insured. I also attend regular training seminars as part of ongoing professional development and am continually broadening my knowledge.
